The Disappointments Book Tag

Hello everyone! Today’s post is another book tag, and I’m really excited for it! Thanks to Jenna @ Embers of Eleanor for tagging me! The creator of this tag is Brooke @ The Reader’s Game.

The Rules

  • Tag at least 3 people
  • Do each of the prompts unless you have never read that type of disappointing book
  • For some of the prompts, you can twist them into what fits your book. For example: Sequels where the characters change in a bad way could change to Good story, Bad characters or Good characters, the rest was meh
  • Have fun!!

A DISAPPOINTING DEBUT

I was really surprised I didn’t like this, because I enjoyed some other books by Elizabeth Eulberg. Penny was annoying, Ryan was annoying, Tracy was annoying, almost everyone was annoying.

An author with a novel you love, and a novel you dislike

I chose Leigh Bardugo for this one. For me, Shadow and Bone was an okay book, but I loved Six of Crows. The author got so much better at writing interesting characters in Six of Crows, which I think is both character and plot driven, while Shadow and Bone is plot/setting driven.

A DISAPPOINTING SEQUEL

I was really sad after reading this, because I didn’t like this one at all, but I loved Warcross. In Wildcard, the characters were bland, the romance made me want to throw up, the plot was non-existant, and the little action there was was laughable.

Great idea, poor execution

Why did I read this book? It sucked, so bad. It was such an interesting idea, though. A girl goes to space camp, stuff happens. Yeah, yeah, I know. But this book is a insta-lovey, gross, stupid, romance. That I hated.

Sequels where the characters change in a bad way

I wish I loved this one. It was probably a 3 star read for me, so not horrible, but all the characters changed so much. Suddenly all Zélie cares about is beating up Inan and all Amari does is sympathize with him, while Inan himself is so, so boring.

I tag whoever wants to do it!

Did you enjoy Shadow and Bone or Six of Crows? Which was your favorite? Do you agree with me about Children of Virtue and Vengeance? Leave your thoughts on this post in the comments below!

  1. I’m debating whether or not to read Dangerous because ~Scace Camp~ but I just read the top GoodReads review. Oh boy. I really enjoyed everything about CVV other than the characters! What happened with Amari shattered me :’) Thank you for doing my tag! I loved reading your answers! ❤

  2. Wonderful post! I loved reading your answers!!
Everyone loves Six of Crows, I really want to read it, but the library is closed so no physical books, and the ebook version isn’t available in the library website. 😦
But I’m glad you loved the book!

  3. I really liked Shadow and Bone, but the more reviews I read, the more I start to think that’s maybe an unpopular opinion? lol
I haven’t read Children of Blood and Bone, so I can’t comment on the sequel. Do you think it’s still worth reading even though the sequel is not that good?
